It would be nice to have the A’s return, but will that take away from Phillies games attendance and what about a stadium?
I think the Phillies have all they can handle at the moment. Stadium could be a thing, but I’d leave that to developers to figure out. This is more about drumming up interest to show that there are baseball fans who’d love to see Philly be a two-team town once again!
I think the novelty of their return would maintain enough interest for both teams for the first year or two, but sharing a stadium would help each team with operating costs in the long-term so even if both teams could not sell out every night, their costs would be lower so they could still field competitive teams. Their history is rooted here, so it’s only fitting they come back for good.
I have been saying that the A’s should move back to their ancestral homeland since the early 1990s. But they should do this by partnering with the Phillies, not competing with them. The A’s could play at Citizens Bank Park, buying a 50% equity share, thereby splitting the cost of running and maintaining the ballpark. More importantly, both teams should form a television network like the Yankees/Nets YES network or the Red Sox/Bruins NESN. This would give both teams control of the distribution of their games, allowing them to run on systems other than just Comcast Sportsnet and be a huge source of revenue for both.
I am on board with this. Finally someone who gets it. This would be great for Phila and baseball in Phila.
Thank you,

With the A’s being run out of Oakland, an opportunity for the storied franchise to return to it’s roots is upon us. Philadelphia a first tier television market with a ravenous fan base would be exactly tge doctor ordered.
I’m all for it!!! But I am a little biased… Take a look at my website of my grandfather’s photographs: http://www.brucemurray.com
