The Home of the Original Athletic Base Ball Club

YouTube Preview Image

We recently discussed the original home of Connie Mack’s Philadelphia Athletics in Brewerytown, but what about the guys who helped make baseball a profession? Those guys played at the Jefferson Street Grounds. The video posted here shows you the western portion of the original park, the remainder of which is now home to a school. It is believed that the first National League game was played there in 1876 between the Athletics and the Boston Red Stockings.
